The Indigo Dispatch #1 – July 2025
Welcome to The Indigo Dispatch
Thanks for stepping into this little space I’ve carved out to update you — a space for songs, stories, and slow thoughts.
First things first: no spam. I’ll drop by once a month – and once a month only – with notes from the studio, glimpses into the creative process, upcoming gigs, gear reviews for the nerds among you, and whatnot. Just a way to keep in touch, from my corner of the woods to yours.
I’m truly grateful you’re here.
What’s New in the Music
Earlier this year, I released a handful of songs dedicated to my little niece, including the EP Songs for E. and SpaceTime.
Since then, I’ve been writing a lot and producing new material at my home studio, The Canopy (more on that below) — some songs about home, others rescued from 15 years’ worth of old notebooks.
A new single, Running, is coming in September. Rooted in my indie-folk/country sound, it’s mostly self-produced, with generous help from Giuseppe and Emanuela on vocals, and Elbow’s member Alex Reeves adding his unique touch to the rhythm section. Final mixes are nearly done—release date soon!
The Canopy
In March, my partner and I moved to our new place in London. It’s a great house, with interiors largely crafted from rich, dark wood. As woods lovers, we knew a cabin-like space would be the perfect place to call home. And here, I have finally found the room to build my home studio.
From the main window, I watch oak and pine trees sway in the breeze, parakeets calling from above. It’s a peaceful, almost magical place — a quiet setting where music comes naturally.
A Revelation…
Some of the new songs called for a little Western flair – something like a lap steel guitar. You might have heard this beautiful instrument on some country songs, Hawaiian classics like Sleepwalk or even played it by David Gilmour.
I couldn’t find a musician to play it, so I bit the bullet and got a Revelation lap steel to learn myself. It’s tricky (as most instruments are), but if you play guitar, some basics carry over. It’s been a fun challenge — and you’ll hear it in Running.
Meanwhile, you can enjoy - so to speak - my awful attempt at lap steel guitar.
Gigs
After a series of gigs at the Spice of Life in Soho last May, I returned to the speakeasy Mayor of Scaredy Cat Town in June for an intimate concert with three other acts.
Small crowds can be tough — if you lose them, you have to give everything to win them back — but they also listen deeply. That intimate vibe perfectly captured a cozy, vibrant evening.
This month, I played the Tudor Arms reopening and returned to The Case is Altered.
I hope I’ll see you all at O’Neills in Soho on 29th August - check my Insta for updates…
You’ve made it
If you’ve arrived this far, it probably means that I haven’t bored you to death. Chances are that you are reading this final section out of pity, but we’ll stick with the former because we’re incurable optimists.
However you feel about it, I am open to any feedback – compliments, praise, flattery, or even admiration. It’s all welcome.
Meanwhile, I will be here in The Canopy, waiting for suggestions, strumming the same old chords on the same old guitar, watching the last beams of the day seep through the trees…
A coffee with Buzz and Toffee
Before I wrap up this first edition of the Indigo Dispatch, I’ve been gruffly reminded by my dogs, Buzz and Toffee, that I promised to share glimpses of their radiant charm here too. Looks like I’ll need to dedicate a little corner of each newsletter to them — to keep my word and prove I’m true to the promise.

I look forward to seeing future posts! The Canopy looks like a lovely place to work :)
(p.s., cute dogs)
